Northern Indiana (IN) Chapter
Greetings,
It is my distinct honor and privilege to represent the extraordinary women of the Northern Indiana (IN) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. We are proud members of a distinguished international organization of professional women who collectively provide more than one million documented hours of community service annually. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about how we are actively Transforming Our Communities through impactful service, advocacy, and partnership.
The Northern Indiana (IN) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered in 1958 in Gary, Indiana, under the leadership of our founding president, Link Inez B. Brewer. Our chapter was established by dedicated women representing Gary, South Bend, Michigan City, and East Chicago, and today, we proudly serve the Northwest Indiana counties of Lake, LaPorte, and Porter. As one of nine chapters within the Chicago Area Cluster and one of 70 chapters in the Central Area, we extend our reach beyond our immediate service area to support initiatives throughout the greater Chicago community and beyond.
Grounded in the legacy of our founders, we remain committed to delivering high-impact programming across our five facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. Our chapter has received numerous accolades in recognition of this work, including national and Central Area honors for our award-winning STEM initiatives. Notably, our STEM programming has been recognized for āIntegrated Best Practicesā and has earned distinctions such as the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Community Impact Award, as well as first-place recognition at the Central Area Conference.
Our commitment to service extends across a wide range of initiatives that address critical community needs. From advancing health equity through the Black K.A.R.E. (Kidney Awareness and Prevention) Programāsupported through longstanding grant fundingāto promoting educational excellence through over a decade of STEM programming and NSBE Jr. chapter development, we are intentional in creating sustainable impact. Our work also includes voter empowerment and engagement, international programming such as STEM Across the Waters, and initiatives in the arts that celebrate culture and creativity. We are especially proud to strengthen our commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through intentional programming, exposure opportunities, and partnerships that connect our students and families to pathways of higher education, leadership, and lifelong success.
We are especially proud of the strength of our partnerships. Through the generosity of our sponsors, community partners, and supporters, we have been able to expand our reach and deepen our impact. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our collective efforts raised more than $30,000 to support social service agencies across Northwest Indiana. More recently, our continued collaborations with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and civic partners have allowed us to deliver meaningful programming that improves outcomes for the communities we serve.
As we move forward in the 2024ā2026 program years, we remain steadfast in our commitment to friendship and service. Our work is rooted in collaboration, driven by purpose, and guided by the belief that working together works.
We invite you to partner with usāas a sponsor, collaborator, volunteer, or advocateāto help expand the reach and impact of our programming. Together, we can create lasting change in the areas of education, health equity, economic empowerment, and global awareness.
Thank you for visiting our website and for your continued support. We are truly linked in friendship and connected in service as we work together to uplift and strengthen our communities.
In Friendship and Service,

Celebrating 10 Years of STEM Programming!āØ
In 2026, the Northern Indiana Chapter proudly marks 10 years of facilitating and fully funding STEM programs in local schools. What began as a response to a local needāaddressing a significant science and math gap in the school districtāhas blossomed over the years into a comprehensive, multi-faceted initiative. Our programming has expanded from a STEM Scouts partnership to establishing NSBE Jr. chapters, providing sustained opportunities for students to explore STEM concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and cultivate a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
Join us at our upcoming events!
January kicks off our STEM activities for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year. We have a new NSBE Jr chapter at a local middle school that will be publicly announced shortly. The Links, Incorporated has a national partnership with The National Society of Black Engineers. Together, the organizations promote and facilitate STEM education and career readiness for underrepresented minority students.
